Basketball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Silver Creek can now relate to. They took a hard 85-66 fall against the Thompson Valley Eagles on Tuesday. The Raptors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Silver Creek lost, don't look at Luke Schmeeckle. Despite the final result, he shot 57% from the field to rack up 22 points and three steals. What's more, Schmeeckle also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Cooper Herchert was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points and seven boards.

Rj Hale continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thompson Valley, shooting 63% from the field en route to 26 points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Gutierrez, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds.

Silver Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. The victory made it two in a row for Thompson Valley and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

Silver Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thompson Valley, they have already played their next contest, an 80-38 loss against Dakota Ridge on the 28th.
