Baseball Recap: Gibson Southern Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Gibson Southern proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the North Central Panthers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since April 10th.

Gibson Southern got a great performance from Cam Truxal as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Truxal has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gibson Southern let Collin Higginbotham and Seth Parsons run wild. Higginbotham got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Parsons went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Gibson Southern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for North Central, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-6 record.

Gibson Southern and North Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Titans (ranked 39th) will meet Washington (ranked 188th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, North Central will face off against Lawrence Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 298).
