Baseball Recap: Dixie Wins High-Profile Match Against Cedar

Dixie faced Cedar in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Flyers were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Reds. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Jake Andreas spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has become a key player for Dixie: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Ethan McArthur was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Dixie is undefeated when McArthur posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Carter Turley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

McArthur wasn't the only one making solid contact: Dixie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Flyers are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dixie's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Cedar, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
