Basketball Recap: Elizabeth Takes a Loss

If Elizabeth was riding high fresh off their 65-43 takedown of Torres last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elizabeth Bulldogs came up short against the Maywood Academy Nighthawks on Monday, falling 63-42. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-42 two weeks ago.

Maywood Academy was led to victory by Rodrigo Miranda and Oscar Lepe. Miranda dropped a double-double with 25 points and 15 assists, while Lepe dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Miranda is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up eight or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Luis ALEGRIA, who posted seven points and eight boards.

Elizabeth has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Maywood Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Elizabeth will host Marquez at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maywood Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Torres at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maywood Academy is facing Torres at the right time seeing as Torres is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
