Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings
Having just played yesterday, the Horizon Hawks will jump right back in to play the Perkiomen Valley Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Horizon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 139th in Florida, while Perkiomen Valley is ranked 26th in Pennsylvania).
On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Horizon beat Metropolitan 57-52. The win was just what Horizon needed coming off of a 68-46 loss in their prior contest.
Horizon relied on the efforts of Sienna Astorino, who scored 23 points along with five steals, and Molly Smith, who scored 21 points along with six steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Emma Andrulouis, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Perkiomen Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-33 to Gill St. Bernard's. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Perkiomen Valley has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Grace Galbavy, who scored 12 points. The match was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Grace Miley was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Horizon's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Perkiomen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Horizon hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53 points per game. It's a different story for Perkiomen Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 65 points per game. The only thing between Horizon and another offensive beatdown is Perkiomen Valley.
