Softball Game Preview: Grove City Christian Eagles vs. Wellington School Jaguars

The Grove City Christian Eagles will challenge the Wellington School Jaguars at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grove City Christian has four straight wins, Wellington School has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Grove City Christian barely beat Grandview Heights the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Bobcats 11-1 on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Karleigh Roof was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those triples were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Grove City Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview Heights only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Wellington School's offense. They lost 13-0 to Grove City Christian on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Jaguars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Wellington School's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Grove City Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Grove City Christian took their win against Wellington School in their previous meeting on Thursday by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
