Ponchatoula has gone 9-1 against Covington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Ponchatoula Green Wave will challenge the Covington Lions at 7:30 p.m. Ponchatoula knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Covington likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Ponchatoula strolled past Salmen with points to spare, taking the game 79-61. Given the Green Wave's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Spartans are ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Covington hadn't done well against St. Paul's recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Covington took down St. Paul's 81-65.

Ponchatoula is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Covington, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Everything came up roses for Ponchatoula against Covington in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 74-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ponchatoula since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
