Soccer Game Preview: Bay City vs. Fort Bend Willowridge

Bay City has won eight straight games at home, while Fort Bend Willowridge has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bay City Blackcats will welcome the Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles at 8:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Bay City is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Sealy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 6-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blackcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Tigers are ranked 546th).

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Fort Bend Willowridge faced off against Needville last Saturday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Fort Bend Willowridge who was credited with the win. Fort Bend Willowridge got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Needville's three.

Fort Bend Willowridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-4 record this season. Having lost for the first time this season, Bay City fell to 19-1-6.

Bay City beat Fort Bend Willowridge by a goal in their previous meeting back in January of 2015, winning 1-0. Will Bay City repeat their success, or does Fort Bend Willowridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
