Softball Preview: Trenton Trojans vs. Lincoln Park Railsplitters

Trenton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Lincoln Park Railsplitters at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Trenton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Trenton is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Monday, just like they did against Tecumseh (and have done all season long). Trenton was the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over Tecumseh on Saturday.

Bri Thomas looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Trenton got a massive performance out of Annika Segedi, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Segedi is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maggie Krohn, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park is still looking for their season's first win. They lost 17-0 to Woodhaven on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, Lincoln Park's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Trenton has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. As for Lincoln Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Trenton's way against Lincoln Park in their previous meeting back in April as Trenton made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trenton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
