4A Greater Neuse River recap Oct. 16, 2012
Smithfield-Selma moved up to 291 from 328 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Greater Neuse River. The Spartans were able to make the jump by falling to Clayton 41-7.
Garner Magnet extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Knightdale, 42-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Trojans.
Garner Magnet's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Vincent Jefferies has thrown for 1059 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Armani Lanier has 29 catches for 595 yards. Raevon Smith leads the league in rushing with 908 yards.
Garner Magnet's Smith is a mere 92 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in 4A Greater Neuse River this week will be when Nelson Smith's team takes on the Bulldogs. At the moment, the Trojans are in first, while Southeast Raleigh is in fourth.
Garner Magnet led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Knights.
