Flag Football Recap: Ramona Comes Up Short Despite Kynzie King's Big Defensive Game

Ramona suffered their closest defeat since October 8, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the La Costa Canyon Mavericks by a score of 14-12. The Bulldogs lost against the Mavericks in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 35-0 score last time.

Although Ramona took the loss, they still got scores from Kynzie King and Remingtyn Bryant.

Ramona didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as King, Bryant, and Reese Blakey picked up one apiece. King got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The loss snapped Ramona's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record. As for La Costa Canyon, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Ramona will face off against Valley Center at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for La Costa Canyon, they will square off against Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' defense has only allowed 7.1 points per game this season, so the Mavericks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
