Volleyball Recap: Bryson Barajas Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Winter Haven

Auburndale won the last time they faced Winter Haven and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bloodhounds skirted past the Blue Devils 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bloodhounds have posted since April 24, 2024.

Auburndale wouldn't go down easily and took Winter Haven into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 24-26, 15-7.

Auburndale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Barajas, who had eight digs and three aces. Those eight digs gave Barajas a new career-high.

Barajas wasn't the only good server: Auburndale was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Auburndale back to even at 4-4. As for Winter Haven, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Auburndale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Lake Region on the 3rd. As for Winter Haven, they will welcome Lake Wales at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
