Baseball Recap: Germantown Takes a Loss

Germantown was the 5-4 winner over Clinton when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Germantown fell 8-5 to Clinton on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Germantown got a good showing from Brayden Simpson, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Simpson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brayden Quick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Attison O'Cain, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Germantown has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. Clinton's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-5.

Coming up, Germantown will take on Terry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Terry has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.21 runs per game on average), something Germantown will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clinton, they will host Cleveland Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
