Baseball Recap: Providence Takes Down Eastern in a Playoff Battle

Providence had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Eastern Musketeers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Cooper Nash tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Cole Huett was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Providence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

The win made it two in a row for Providence and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Eastern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

As of now, neither Providence nor the Musketeers have any future games scheduled.
