Basketball Recap: Dan River's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Dan River can bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Nelson County Governors as the Dan River Wildcats made off with a 39-13 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Dan River got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Akeelah Scott out in front who posted nine points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Scott a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Liza Maxey, who scored nine points along with six boards and three steals.

Dan River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Dan River's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Nelson County, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Dan River has already played their next game, a 47-35 loss against Chatham on the 17th. As for Nelson County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-12 defeat against Gretna on the 17th.
