Baseball Recap: Colony Knights vs. Soldotna Stars

Colony extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-3 in the process. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Soldotna Stars. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Stars when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Colony saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Carlson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Carlson's first of the season. Another was Boman Marks, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Soldotna, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Soldotna's side, Colby Sturman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Sturman has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colony will challenge Palmer at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Soldotna, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kenai Central at 6:00 p.m. The game will give the Stars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
