Baseball Game Preview: Diego Rivera Huskies vs. Triumph Charter Jaguars

The Diego Rivera Huskies will take on the Triumph Charter Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Diego Rivera is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Los Angeles Leadership Academy 18-17. The victory was nothing new for the Huskies as they're now sitting on three straight.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Jaguars on Thursday. Triumph Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against Fulton, sneaking past 10-9. Triumph Charter hasn't had any issues with Fulton recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Gabriel Gonzales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gonzales was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Triumph Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 12-4 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Triumph Charter got a massive performance out of Richard Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Reyes has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Simon Trujillo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Triumph Charter pushed their record up to 14-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Diego Rivera, their record now sits at 11-8-1.
