Baseball Recap: Point Arena Makes It Four in a Row at Home

While Point Arena's victory against Victory Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 5-4. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jimmy Owens and Aidan O'Neil did most of the damage at the plate: Owens went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while O'Neil went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Owens has posted since back in March of 2024. Cody Chavez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Point Arena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in five consecutive games.

Point Arena's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Victory Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Point Arena is taking a road trip to take on Laytonville at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will square off against Tomales at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
