Baseball Recap: Unioto Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Unioto had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Adena on Wednesday. The Shermans blew past the Warriors 7-1. Considering the Shermans have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

David Long made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KB Perkins, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Cutright, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Unioto is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Adena, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Unioto will square off against rival Zane Trace at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Shermans 2.7, the Pioneers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Adena is set to face off against their familiar foe Piketon at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
