Basketball Recap: Wiley Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Wiley Panthers ended up a good deal behind the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes and lost 34-19. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Wiley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lexie Lubbers posted 11 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. That was a full 57.9% of Wiley's points, marking the third time in a row Lubbers has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Kylie McKnight had an outrageously good game for Miami-Yoder as she shot 43% from the field on her way to 22 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Those 22 points gave McKnight a new career-high.

Wiley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Miami-Yoder, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

Wiley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-23 loss against McClave on the 27th. As for Miami-Yoder, they have also already played their next matchup, a 42-16 victory against Monument Academy on the 26th.
