Football Game Preview: Sequoyah Indians vs. Dewey Bulldoggers

The Sequoyah Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Dewey Bulldoggers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sequoyah has four straight wins, Dewey has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Sequoyah earned a 24-14 victory over Chandler.

Sequoyah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ridge Blackbear, who rushed for 155 yards. Those 155 rushing yards gave Blackbear a new career-high. Jakob Rider was in the mix too, providing Sequoyah with two scores.

Meanwhile, Dewey fell victim to Metro Christian and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 42-0 defeat at the hands of the Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Bulldoggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Patriots are ranked 26th).

Dewey's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Sequoyah, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything came up roses for Sequoyah against Dewey in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 53-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
