The Santo Wildcats will head out to challenge the Huckabay Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Huckabay will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Santo extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let Ranger get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Maddie Koonce made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Santo got a massive performance out of Myranda Cain, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave Cain a new career-high. Maddie Griffith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Huckabay got the win against Strawn on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-0. Considering the Indians have won three matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Anderson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Izzie Ketchum, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Huckabay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Huckabay and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Santo, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
