Softball Recap: Oak Grove Extends Winning Streak to Five

Oak Grove entered their tilt with Dora on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Bulldogs. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Oak Grove let Ryleigh Garrard and Gracie 'Sassy' Renz run wild. Garrard went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Renz scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Garrard a new career-high. Aleah Dye was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Oak Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 15-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Dora, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will take on Randolph County in a tournament on Friday. As for Dora, they will venture away from home to face off against Oakman at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
