Basketball Recap: Decatur Comes Up Short

If Decatur was riding high fresh off their 43-18 takedown of Chamblee last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Decatur Bulldogs were dealt a 55-16 defeat at the hands of the Lakeside Vikings on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Vikings are ranked 171st).

Ta'Lor Owens was Decatur's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Annabelle Huebner held things down on the boards with 12 rebounds.

Decatur's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7. As for Lakeside, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Decatur will be home for the holidays to greet Arabia Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeside, they are taking a road trip to square off against Chamblee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
