Softball Recap: Lower Moreland Finds Home Field Redemption Against Academy of the New Church

There's no place like home for Lower Moreland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They skirted past Academy of the New Church 7-6. Lower Moreland hasn't had any issues with Academy of the New Church recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Maddie Menchhofer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Molly Weber was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Jordyn MacPhee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lower Moreland's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Academy of the New Church, they moved to 10-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Lower Moreland will take on Collegium Charter at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Cougar have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.63 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. Academy of the New Church does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
