Basketball Recap: West Rebels vs. William Blount Governors
This season hasn't been kind to the West Rebels, who are still winless after their 16th game. They were outmatched by William Blount at home and fell 57-6. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West has scored all season.
William Blount's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Darnell, who scored 15 points. Darnell has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassie Swett, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
West's loss was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for William Blount, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14.
West will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hardin Valley Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rebels in Tennessee (the Hawks are ranked 61st, while the Rebels are ranked 343rd). As for William Blount, they and the Red Rebels will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
