Southern Nash is 8-2 against Rocky Mount since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Firebirds will head out to take on the Gryphons at 6:00 p.m. Rocky Mount took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southern Nash, who comes in off a win.
Southern Nash headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Raleigh HomeSchool let them put that streak behind them. The Firebirds blew past the Hawks 18-8 on Friday. The Firebirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Caiden Peeler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Southern Nash: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Peeler was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Deans, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Southern Nash's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Landon Brown was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Southern Nash always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Franklinton.
Rocky Mount saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Buck, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Southern Nash moved to 7-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Rocky Mount, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
