Volleyball Recap: Briarcrest Christian Starts off Right with Win over Hutchison

Briarcrest Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hutchison Sting with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Saints, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Briarcrest Christian was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.

Camille Northcross paced Briarcrest Christian's offense, picking up nine kills. Northcross got some help from Sarah O'Connor and her 30 assists.

Hutchison's loss came despite strong showings from Stratton Harris and Ella Ford. Harris had five digs and two aces, while Ford had eight digs and one block. Harris is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briarcrest Christian will host Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Hutchison and Memphis Home Education Association will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
