Softball Recap: Anderson County's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Anderson County was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Cumberland Gap last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mavericks fell 9-4 to the Grainger Grizzlies on Friday. The Mavericks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Anderson County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kara Waddell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Ashton Thurman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Anderson County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Grainger, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson County will host Powell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Grainger, they will take on Morristown-Hamblen West at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
