Soccer Game Preview: Willow vs. Jesuit

The Willow Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Jesuit Blue Jays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have allowed few goals on average, (Willow: 0.1, Jesuit: 0.4) so any goals scored will be well earned.

Willow is headed into the game without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They never let East St. John onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Monday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while the Wildcats are ranked 69th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jesuit entered their tilt with St. Paul's on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They skirted past Wolves 1-0. Give the Blue Jays' defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Jesuit's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Willow, their win bumped their record up to 9-0-1.

Willow skirted past Jesuit 2-1 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willow since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
