Softball Recap: Liberty Christian Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against John Paul II, Liberty Christian was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Parish Episcopal Panthers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Sydney Griffin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Combest was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Byler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Liberty Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parish Episcopal only posted an OBP of .118.

Liberty Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Parish Episcopal, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Liberty Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
