Baseball Game Preview: New Bedford Whalers vs. Durfee Hilltoppers

New Bedford is 1-9 against Durfee since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Whalers will look to defend their home field against the Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m.

New Bedford is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bridgewater-Raynham on Wednesday. They lost 10-2 to the Trojans.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Durfee and Brockton, and Durfee kept the tradition alive. The Hilltoppers blew past the Boxers 11-1 on Wednesday. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hilltoppers yet this season.

Durfee's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for New Bedford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

New Bedford couldn't quite get it done against Durfee in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Whalers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
