Recap: Simla Cubs vs. Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds
The Simla Cubs won the last time they faced the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds, and things went their way on Saturday too. Simla simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sangre de Cristo 58-22 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Simla has managed all season.
Simla found their leader in underclassman Carlee Cox, who scored nine points along with ten steals and seven rebounds. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Brickell, who scored 15 points along with six steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Simla and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Sangre de Cristo, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.
Simla will be home for the holidays to greet Peyton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Peyton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Sangre de Cristo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinidad at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
