Basketball Game Preview: Fort Defiance Indians vs. Clarke County Eagles

The Fort Defiance Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Clarke County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fort Defiance has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Clarke County will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Friday, Fort Defiance ended up a good deal behind Stuarts Draft and lost 65-49. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Cougars are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, Clarke County blew past Madison County, posting a 69-14 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Fort Defiance's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Clarke County, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Fort Defiance took a serious blow against Clarke County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 66-13. Can Fort Defiance avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
