Basketball Recap: Kennedy Triumphs

Kennedy won the last time they faced Exeter and things went their way on Monday too. The Kennedy Thunderbirds pulled ahead with a 54-53 photo finish over the Exeter Monarchs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbirds.

Leading Kennedy to victory were Yoshi Tanaka and Jaymar Buton. Tanaka went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds, while Buton went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Tanaka a new career-high in points. Zikeem Dozer was another key player, putting up six points and five assists.

Exeter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aden Plyman, who posted 15 points and eight boards. The game was Plyman's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blaine Mcfall, who had 13 points and three blocks.

Kennedy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Exeter, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.

Kennedy has already played their next match, a 69-39 victory against Wasco on the 28th. As for Exeter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-70 defeat against Kerman on the 28th.
