Recap: Monsignor Donovan Catholic Rams vs. Lakeview Academy Lions
After flying high against the David Emanuel Academy Eagles last Friday, the Monsignor Donovan Catholic Rams came back down to earth. Monsignor Donovan Catholic was dealt a 87-46 defeat at the hands of Lakeview Academy on Monday. While losing is never fun, Monsignor Donovan Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Lakeview Academy is ranked 106th).
Despite the defeat, Monsignor Donovan Catholic had strong showings from Nick Huff, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, and John W Thompson III, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Huff is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Devin Jones, who scored three points along with seven steals.
Monsignor Donovan Catholic struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Monsignor Donovan Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Lakeview Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Monsignor Donovan Catholic will be playing at home against Thomas Jefferson Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against George Walton Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully George Walton Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Monday.
