Recap: Stratton Eagles vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers

The Stratton Eagles lost against the Cheyenne Wells Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Stratton lost to Cheyenne Wells at home by a decisive 46-27 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Stratton has scored all season.

Stratton's loss came despite strong showings from Cyler Notter and Gage Levin. Notter scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Levin scored six points along with five rebounds.

Stratton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Cheyenne Wells' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corey Hill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Hill is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zach Dickey, who scored 16 points.

Stratton's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Cheyenne Wells, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stratton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fleming at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Fleming will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Stratton is ranked 62nd). As for Cheyenne Wells, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Swink at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Swink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
