Softball Recap: New Britain Golden Hurricanes vs. Newington Nor'easters
New Britain had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it ten. They lost 19-2 to the Newington Nor'easters. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nor'easters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-9 back in April.
As for Newington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 New Britain and 1-10 Middletown.
For Newington's part, they got a massive performance out of Abigail Greaves, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Ross, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Britain will venture away from home to challenge Middletown at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newington, they will head out to take on Wethersfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
