Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Marion's Third in Last Four Outings

If Central Christian Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Marion, they should've done a better job of containing Kenna Wesner. The Marion Warriors managed a 40-34 win over the Central Christian Academy Lions on Friday thanks to Wesner, who went 7-for-11 en route to 14 points along with six boards and four steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games she's played.

Despite the loss, Central Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Laila Hernandez, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 14 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. What's more, Hernandez also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Corinne Rauch was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

Marion is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Central Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Marion and Central Christian Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Marion will welcome Classical at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th. As for Central Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Berean Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
