Volleyball Recap: Augusta Takes a Loss

Augusta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates. The Beavers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Augusta was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cochrane-Fountain City work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-19, 20-25, 28-26.

Maddi Meyer paced Augusta's offense, picking up 14 kills. Meyer got some help from Brooklyn Krueger and her 14 assists. Kadyn Kirkham controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Cochrane-Fountain City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Augusta has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Solon Springs on the 11th. As for Cochrane-Fountain City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against St. Charles on the 11th.
