Basketball Game Preview: Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs vs. Holyoke Dragons

Haxtun and Holyoke are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Holyoke Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Haxtun came up short against Burlington on Saturday, falling 65-43. The Fightin' Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losing side was boosted by Bobbi Starkebaum, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emily Anderson, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Holyoke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 57-24 loss at the hands of Chase County. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 215th in Colorado, while the Longhorns are ranked 94th in Nebraska).

Haxtun's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Holyoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Haxtun was able to grind out a solid victory over Holyoke in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 47-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Haxtun since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
