Basketball Recap: Anna's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Anna waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 36-30 W against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Tigers are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Liberty-Salem's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madeline McGill, who posted six points and nine rebounds. McGill is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played.

Anna pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points over those games. As for West Liberty-Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

The future could be bright for both Anna and West Liberty-Salem: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Anna will look to extend Northeastern's 22-game losing streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, West Liberty-Salem will try to hand Fairlawn their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
