Basketball Game Preview: Whitehorse Raiders vs. Monticello Buckaroo

Whitehorse is 2-8 against Monticello since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Whitehorse Raiders will be playing at home against the Monticello Buckaroo at 7:00 p.m. Whitehorse has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Whitehorse blew past Pinnacle, posting a 79-39 victory. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 27 points or more this season.

Whitehorse can attribute much of their success to Kalin Tohonnie, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Tohonnie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hyatt Thomas, who put up 12 points.

Monticello has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Dove Creek. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Buckaroo came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 100th in Utah, while the Bulldogs are ranked 221st in Colorado).

Whitehorse pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.3 points. As for Monticello, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
