Volleyball Game Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. Burlingame Panthers

Carlmont is a perfect 6-0 against Burlingame since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Carlmont Scots will square off against the Burlingame Panthers at 5:45 p.m. Carlmont will be strutting in after a win while Burlingame will be coming in after a loss.

Carlmont won the last time they faced Aragon, and Hean Ng did his part to make sure it happened again. Carlmont walked away with a 3-1 victory over Aragon on Tuesday which was due in part to Ng, who had 16 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Carlmont was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Burlingame came up short against Menlo-Atherton on Friday and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22.

Burlingame's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Carlmont, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Carlmont hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.3 blocks per game. It's a different story for Burlingame, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 blocks. Given Carlmont's sizable advantage in that area, Burlingame will need to find a way to close that gap.

Carlmont took their victory against Burlingame in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlmont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
