Preview: College Park Cavaliers vs. New Caney Eagles
The College Park Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the New Caney Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. College Park is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, College Park came up short against Oak Ridge and fell 37-27.
Despite the defeat, College Park got a solid performance out of Conner Dunphy, who picked up 240 receiving yards and a touchdown. Dunphy's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Rodrigo Bravo jr was another key contributor, throwing for 224 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, New Caney made sure to put some points up on the board against Cleveland on Friday. New Caney claimed a resounding 58-20 victory over Cleveland on the road. Given New Caney's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Cleveland is ranked 1011th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hunter Taylor was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Dravon Wilson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Oak Ridge's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while College Park's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
College Park came up short against New Caney when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 27-17. Thankfully for College Park, Kedrick Reescano (who rushed for 248 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
