Basketball Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Lafayette Rams lost to the Massaponax Panthers on the road by a 77-59 margin. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Massaponax's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Myers, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Myers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Bowler, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Massaponax, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Massaponax will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against North Stafford at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
