Baseball Recap: Crystal River Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Crystal River, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Springstead Eagles on Tuesday. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 20-17 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

McKown Kaden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has become a key player for Crystal River: the team is 6-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Jesse Paul was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cade Wentworth, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Crystal River's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Springstead, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.

Crystal River has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 loss against Trinity Catholic on the 9th. Hopefully Springstead payed attention to the Pirates' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
