Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Dark Horses vs. Union Spartans

Clinton is 10-0 against Union since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Clinton Dark Horses will host the Union Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Union took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Clinton, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 15 losses in a row dating back to last season, Clinton turned things around against East Columbus on Friday. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 56-53 win over the Gators. The Dark Horses' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Clinton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anyahs Butler led the charge by going 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Butler has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Bass, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Union lost to West Columbus on the road by a 64-49 margin last Friday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Clinton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Clinton against Union in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 62-19 win. In that game, Clinton amassed a halftime lead of 33-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
