Basketball Recap: Galena Comes Up Short

Galena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 79-53 to the Valdez Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 31st).

Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Valdez, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.

We've got a battle between Hawks coming up. Galena has given up an average of 58.7 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Valdez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
