Softball Recap: Mae Jemison Comes Up Short

Mae Jemison extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-12. They lost 19-4 to the Whitesburg Christian Academy Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 two weeks ago.

As for Whitesburg Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-10-1. Considering they have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Whitesburg Christian Academy's part, Ella Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hill has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mae Jemison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whitesburg Christian Academy, they will square off against Athens Bible at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
